EBAY POWERSELLER SECRETS TO BE
| ![]() |
Some achieve it while some become frustrated and either cannot obtain it or even sustain that status once they get there.
Perhaps you may be a regular seller seeking this hierarchy of auction sellers, or perhaps you are a Silver Powerseller aspiring to become a Platinum Powerseller or even a Titanium Powerseller. Either way, here are top Power seller secrets to help you achieve the highest status as possible, with one of the most important eBay Powerseller tips you MUST know!
To start with, we'll go from basic to most advanced. All of these will help you to achieve the status you desire.
1. Be aware that first impressions are always extremely important. Companies know the power of branding their name or brand in the mind of the consumer. First impressions count and are powerful. This power should be used in your auction listings. Your visitor will decide within a couple of seconds if they will stay on your listing or hit their back button and go somewhere else.
Your company image also counts. How your listing is designed and communicated to your visitor also matters. Make sure your listings are targeted to your target audience and do NOT insult them. People want to be treated like intelligent people. I am always shocked at how many people will insult their visitors with language in their listings with rules, regulations, nasty feedback threats and so forth, ALL before getting to the item description! Do not insult your visitors like this. This will decrease your sales and your bids and certainly not help you to become an eBay Powerseller.
2. Your name matters. Make your name is easy to spell, easy to remember and is consistent with your email, your website and anything else your visitor may see. If your user Id is a different name than your eBay store and you thank people for shopping at Joe's eBay Shop, then people will only remember they got it from some guy on eBay.
This is why it is important for your name to consistent. Don't use any special characters or numbers in your name. Spell it the way it sounds and make sure it matches in all communication with your customer. Use the same ID as your store name along with having a matching domain name.
This way you have one consistent brand name and will help your buyer to remember YOU as an eBay top seller in your market the next time they shop on eBay. If you have a good name that fits in these criteria, it will help you to brand your business in the minds of your customers.
3. Use an eBay store and a website along with your eBay auctions. Often, the best investment is the one made in how you present your company image in your listing as well as in your eBay store. Before you design or re-design your eBay store, have your eBay listing template designed or re-designed. The listing is where the sale is made or broken so you want to make sure your templates are professional and easy to navigate. Shoppers can choose to buy or reject your item before they even see your eBay store. This is why it is very important to be professional.
If it doesn't enhance the experience and work to make the sale, get rid of it! This goes for your store and your listing. This could include things such as flash animation, side links that may take people away from your auction listing, as well as galleries which take people away from your item.
Remember, on eBay, your shopper probably knew what he wanted. He searched, he found you among your competitors and choose to look at your item. This is the typical behavior of an eBay buyer and bidder. Once they find you, you want to make sure they stop searching for what they are looking for if you have what they want! Don't insult them with threats or by being rude by stereotyping them with your previous bad experiences with buyers, or with bad listing templates.
Do you really want your visitor to click on a link and go off of your listing? Do you want your visitor to go to another item and leave? Do you think your visitor is going to sit there and watch a flash animation of your logo or something that doesn't pertain to your listing? Do you want to run them off because you insulted them? This will do nothing to help you achieve eBay Powerseller status.
You want to do things that will help you convert your visitor to a bidder and a buyer. You want to do things to enhance your listing template and store to convert your visitor into a buyer. You want to do things to make your item to exciting to pass up. You certainly do not want to distract your visitor with things that will not result in making them a buyer and you certainly do NOT want to run them off with negative interaction.
Also, remember things that were cool in 1998 are no longer cool and today will make you look very unprofessional.
Do not put dancing bears in your listing unless you sale dancing bears! These are all hallmarks of an amateur. Using several types of fonts, using all caps, using tons of colors doesn't help you look professional.
4. Power Sellers must use auction research tools such as Terapeak, Hammer Tap, and other seller research tools to fine tune your strategies and help you to make better decisions to help you grow your sales and profitability. Most sellers do not do this. You must look at information such as pricing, their sell through rate, what times of day items are selling the best at. Which days of the week, what times are best and so forth?
The most common mistake among new sellers is not doing enough research, using the right pricing, using bad auction titles.
The best thing a new eBay seller to do is to educate themselves. Learning how the marketplace works is critical to eBay selling.
Even eBay has noted from their own research that when shoppers feel a sense of fun, excitement, and personality from a listing, they are nearly twice as likely to bid or buy!
